The mined metal is pulverized
and sorted. The best grades of mineral contain more than 60% iron. Lesser
evaluations are dealt with, or refined, to evacuate different contaminants
before the metal is sent to the impact heater. On the whole, these refining
strategies are called beneficiation and incorporate further pounding, washing
with water to buoy sand and earth away, attractive partition, pelletizing, and
sintering. As a greater amount of the world's known supply of high iron
substance mineral is drained, these refining strategies have turned out to be
progressively critical.
The refined mineral is then
stacked on trains or ships and transported to the impact heater site.
