Charging the impact heater

1 After handling, the metal is mixed with other metal and goes to the impact heater. An impact heater is a tower-formed structure, made of steel, and fixed with recalcitrant, or warmth safe blocks. The blend of crude material, or charge, enters at the highest point of the impact heater. At the base of the heater, extremely hot air is blown, or impacted, in through spouts called tuye'res.
